In the world of artificial flavours, single estate tea is the pinnacle of transparency & quality, focused orthodox production, keeping the leaf whole, preserving the essential oils. My personal observation , people are slowly moving away from blend towards the source.So there is a shift in the fundamental values. preferring , the mineral rich soil of ASSAM TEA, or the delicate floral DARJEELING TEA .But not a factory formulae blended tea .
GOLDEN RIM
You can only view the golden rim at the edge of the cup after the brew. This symbolizes the tea is from a high altitude . Very few of estates of Darjeeling can actually be proud of such plantations. We source all our teas from OKAYTI ESTATE where this mystical golden rim appears from flush tea.
- Limited supply so the vintage factor comes across. Each year the taste will vary because the tea is coming from a specific plot of the land that includes the soil, the sun exposure, altitude and the mist. In technical term we call this TERROIR.
- They are processed in smaller batches preserving the oils & the liveliness.
- High altitude leaves grow slowly concentrating the sugars & the oils in the leaf , leading to a complex flavour.
- It’s a craft , handplucking few buds for white tea or two leaves & a bud for black tea . All of it ,is a artisinal feat .
